Frequently Asked Questions

What is your deal, anyway?

I wish I knew.

You made some referene to Second Life on your Services page. What's that?

Check here for answers.

Can I hear a short demo of you doing that DJ thing?

Sure. Click here.

Didn't you have an Atlassian Confluence Wiki hosted by your Ubuntu machine at home?

Yup. And it's possible that I still do. But I wasn't really blogging all that much, nor collaborating with anybody else. I only occasionally experimented with some plugin or whatever. And I figured there's some chance that it's cheaper to run an EC2 Micro Instance than to keep the PC running here 24x7.

What motorcycle is that?

That's a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. It's essentially the same bike that I ride. It looked about like that when I test-rode it. But then I added a windshield, saddle bags, a bigger rear seat, passenger back rest, air horns, and a couple odds and ends.

What is "riding darkside"?

It means that after buying a couple expensive "motorcycle" tires, which don't last very long, I decided instead to put a Goodyear Assurance TT on the rear of my Vulcan.

Why on earth would you put a car tire on the rear of your motorcycle?

  • Better cornering grip (but do bear in mind, that's not a low-lean-angle supersport bike you're lookin' at... it's a heavy cruiser... very heavy... so we don't do any knee sliding)
  • Better wet traction
  • Longer tread wear... much longer
  • Less expensive... much less expensive
  • It looks really cool

But then doesn't the front tire wear out as quickly as before?

Yeah, the last one I had did. But when it was time to replace it, I instead bought a tire designed for the rear of a Harley cruiser... and mounted it in the reverse rotation.

Are you nuts?

Perhaps a little.
